Importance of Maxillofacial Prostheses
The process of rehabilitating the patients who suffer from neck and head injuries is complex and generally requires very close interactions among multiple disciplines of health science. It is actually the Maxillofacial Prosthodontist who is the main person involved in the entire process of patient care and is thus, the individual that is in a perfect position of coordinating all the efforts that are required for this complex process of rehabilitation.
The maxillofacial prostheses team generally consists of maxillofacial and oral surgeons, radiologists, plastic surgeons, neck and head surgeons, oncologists, otolaryngologists, neurosurgeons, orthodontists, speech therapists, and many others. Our Maxillofacial Prostheses team is one of the few teams in India that can actually bring all the required specialists together for evaluating and treating the problems of the patients.
The main objective of the maxillofacial prostheses team of Smile Gallery Dental Wellness Center is to provide the required prosthodontic rehabilitation for patients suffering from orofacial defects which are caused due to birth defects, treatments of neck and head cancers, or trauma. These defects often lead to modified functions and the patient is generally unable to take part in the most basic of activities. And this inability very commonly leads to problems related to the psychosocial behavior of the patients.
While maxillofacial prostheses are complex procedures, we have all the expertise of providing the best of treatment and care to the patients. Just like all the other dental treatments that we offer, quality practice is given major importance throughout the procedure to make sure that the treatment is done in a completely safe, effective and affordable manner.
